The Artist isn't just a film, it's a cinematic experience. Oh yes, my first silent film and I enjoyed this immensely. The feel good factor, the classy production values and the close attention to the small details. It's got it all. Dujardin and Be... Read the full review »

The Belko Experiment is a gory social experiment. All about an office of 80 people having to undergo some tasks that will put their psychology and human nature to the test. Very intriguing film, easily a film that makes you think "what would I do... Read the full review »

Colombiana is a frustrating action film. It's frustrating because it's helmed by Olivier Megaton who is quite frankly one of my least favourite directors. His choppy editing style, half second jump cuts and the generic camerawork could turn any go... Read the full review »

Transporter 3 makes its predecessors look like masterpieces. Do you know why? Because they weren't directed by Olivier Megaton. Jason Statham is an action star, he performs excellent stunts and the fight choreography was good. Robert Knepper was a... Read the full review »

Misery showcases one of the best villains in movie history. Annie Wilkes is a complex character full of depth. She's portrayed as a psychopath who believes she is caring for her idol, but deep down I felt sympathy for her. As her past life is reve... Read the full review »

What is your favourite film of all time?

@FILM Goodfellas is just amazing for me. It changed my view on movies, and made me start to actually appreciate what goes into movie making. The first two Star Wars films are definitely close though. Along with Spider-Man 2 and The Dark Knight. View the full reply »

In my opinion, and definitely the opinion of many others; this film didn't deserve to win Best Picture. It lacks in great excitement, and I frankly only watched it because the plane ride was long. However it is still an interesting film, and gives... Read the full review »

John Wick excites as one of the best action movies of recent times. What the movie may lack in a great story; it certainly makes up for in it's brilliant, complex, and creative fight sequences. Its very well acted; with great performances by Keanu... Read the full review »

Films you don't like that everybody else loves.

I absolutely love the original toy story, but I do think the sequels are better. Speaking of Disney though; I feel like Frozen was a disappointment for me. Maybe because I waited so long to watch it, and expected to watch a Godfather level movie @... View the full reply »

Are Remakes a Good or Bad Idea?

I feel the same way. Older movies that perhaps could not do certain things because of the technology at the time; can now be remade even better. But it's definitely starting to get too much, and it's hindering directors from conntributing more ori... View the full reply »

Are Remakes a Good or Bad Idea?

For me it all depends on what is being remade. When I hear Blade Runner (1982) is being remade by one of the best directiors of our time, I am all for it. But when I hear someone like Kevin Hart, who plays the exact same character in every movie,... View the full reply »

Are Remakes a Good or Bad Idea?

It's a tricky subject for me. I've been a fan of some remakes recently, particularly the Disney-funded Star Wars reprise and Godzilla (2014) (Apologies, it's a guilty pleasure of mine), but can't help but feel sceptical to some degree every time I... View the full reply »

Are Remakes a Good or Bad Idea?

In an age of remakes, reboots and spin-offs, almost no stone has been left unturned by Hollywood. Some become classics such as The Thing (1982) and The Magnificent Seven (1960), some are generally hated like Ghostbusters (2015) and Ben-Hur (2016),... View the full thread »

@buffed_film_buff I know what you mean. I'm a fan of Vertigo but there are often films that you enjoy purely on a technical level instead of becoming invested in the characters and story. View the full reply »

Vertigo. There's no doubt it's masterful, because Hitchcock has a gift, but for some reason I was so disappointed after watching it and I still don't really know why. View the full reply »
