  • Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is just as good as its predecessor. I'm serious. This is actually the first film of 2017 where it felt fun, the tone was just perfect. Humour, although slightly forced at times, was excellently used both visually and in the script and probably laughed more at this than in your average comedy movie. The cast was dependable as always and again, delivered. Chris Pratt and Kurt Russell had some powerful scenes together that brought in some much needed emotion. The new and returning characters were great and finally we have a villain that is memorable. Visually the film is stunning, the space backdrop has never looked so colourful and vibrant. The soundtrack was nostalgic and persistently refreshing, suited the film perfectly. Plenty of Easter eggs for Marvel fans and some relevant pop culture references. My only problem was it felt like a filler, it did not progress anything in the MCU which is an unusual move considering we're in phase 3. Overall it's a solid Marvel film that is definitely one of the best they've produced...oh and the final scenes are touching, a man tear may have been produced.
