WHAT I LIKED: The band is back together with Nick Frost, Simon Pegg (who's "chemistry" is magnetic) and genius Edgar Wright re-uniting after the brilliant 'Shaun of the Dead.' On the most part, they deliver again too, as this definitely works as a... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: There are few things better in this world than a well-executed satire, and Edgar Wright's zombie-apocalypse take 'Shaun of the Dead,' is one of modern cinema's great examples of that. Yes the initial idea to ground the classic zombie... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: All the best comedies have more layers than first meet the eye, but Shane Black's 'The Nice Guys' brings the bones of a good film even further forward to deliver something more engaging than most serious dramas. Yes, surprisingly for... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: 'Chamber of Secrets,' begins the inevitable descent into darkness of the Harry Potter series. Unlike the forced dramatic stakes in the obstacle-course adventures of the first film, here things really feels as though Harry and his fri... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: Like my favourite movie series of all time, Harry Potter follows the story of a young man who's initially oblivious to a world of magic which he must eventually become a central part of and fight against oppression and evil. The firs... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: Surprisingly intelligent and yet every bit as badass and gory as you'd expect, 'Robocop's original idea makes for one thoroughly memorable and interesting film that stands the test of time despite feeling so dated. Yes this concept n... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: The Second Part to this franchise was just a rehashing of the first film, but here some originality is finally sought in the form of a new plot and character developments that tie back to the first film whilst bringing the franchise... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: At its core, 'The Wolverine' is an in-depth character study of the 3 lead roles. Firstly, we get another great look at Logan himself where they seemingly take a step back to look at iterations of the character and build a real indivi... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: Going back and seeing the birth of these characters might sound like it's scraping the barrel, but 'X-Men: First Class' is entirely viable because it delves even further into the philosophies and reasoning of Erik and Charles. This d... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: 'The Force Awakens,' does admittedly have a similar plot to the first Star Wars. An evil Empire chases a resistance fighter with an important map. Before they're captured, they give the map to a droid to flee on a desert planet where... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: 'The Danish Girl' tells the fascinating true story of the world's first transgender man, and first and foremost what makes the film is that that immediately serves as a very powerful narrative. It unlocks the examinations of identity... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: Alfonso Cuaron's 'Gravity,' offers a rather unique and all-consuming experience as it makes you feel awe, tension, excitement and bewildered confusion all at the same time by absorbing you into the world (or rather out of it) to the... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: It's strange to think now, but back in 2008, 'Iron Man' saw a brand-new Marvel Studios put all of its eggs into one very fragile basket with an unknown superhero origin story fronted by the risky Robert Downey Jr and unknown director... Read the full review »
