  • WHAT I LIKED: There are few things better in this world than a well-executed satire, and Edgar Wright's zombie-apocalypse take 'Shaun of the Dead,' is one of modern cinema's great examples of that. Yes the initial idea to ground the classic zombie thing by using two relatable lay-abouts slowly encountering the apocalypse in their local British town and not quite believing their eyes is a brilliant one, but it's the execution of it all that makes it as Wright's script packs bags of brilliant dialogue and some truly genius moments to make for something constantly amusing and occasionally laugh-out-loud funny. Couple that with solve brilliant comedic performances from the duo that is Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, and what you've got is an extremely funny and smart satire that rightfully kick-started one of the funniest trilogies of all time.
WHAT I LIKED: Wright does go a little far at points, and that's very much the case in the slightly lengthy final act.
VERDICT: A brilliant satire of the zombie-apocalypse, 'Shaun of the Dead,' is a brilliant first big foray from Edgar Wright that was a sign of a whole lot of greatness to come.
