WHAT I LIKED: Everyone talks about how stylish the John Wicks movies are; beautiful lightning, sadistic, dance-like choreography and great music. That certainly creates a degree of cinematic, in-the-moment atmosphere to be hooked by, but the thing... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: I'm very proud of the fact we Brits know how to make a good "Power to the People" film, and nowhere is that more evident than where 'Made in Dagenham' is concerned. Yes the way it sticks its fingers up to the establishment is done wi... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: It's very easy when reviewing a classic such as this to simply gush about its contribution to cinema, but even when you view 'North by Northwest' as a film in its own right, it's still one of the greatest around. Why? Well it does so... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' really is everything that a summer blockbuster should be - fun, interesting, but mostly down-right engaging. Yes, what really makes this film the success it truly is is its characters; each of whom ho... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: Dare I say it - probably the best way to describe the feeling you get from 'Inception' is the sense that director Christopher Nolan is letting his hair down a bit. Yes oddly enough, when compared to his other amazing filmography, it... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: I do certainly hold some love for 'Kong: Skull Island,' as it's a film sprinkled with more quirky and individual elements than you may expect from a blockbuster of this scale. Yes for one, the story is clearly crafted to explore a co... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: 'Up' is clearly a lot of fun, but it is also universally recognised as Pixar's saddest film, and it most definitely is. Yes the themes of age and family run so strongly through the beautiful narrative and characters here that the fil... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: There's no denying it; stylistically, 'John Wick' is one of the coolest in its game, as it packs some if the best world-building, cinematography and action choreography that this kind kind of film could ever offer. Honestly, not a ha... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: On the one hand, 'Get Out' is undoubtedly a very gripping and engaging thriller indeed, but what really makes it something special is its thematic layers.
Yes, Jordan Peele isn't aiming for a straight genre-piece here at all as the... Read the full review »

'Alien: Covenant' is a film with a lot on its plate. For starters it needs to answer the questions posed by its overambitious amuse-bouche 'Prometheus (2012),' and secondly it needs to satisfy everyone's apparent hunger for horror and character de... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: Perhaps unsurprisingly with Pixar at the wheel, 'Monsters University' does manage to capture much of the magic of its predecessor, as it still packs all the charm and detail you'd expect, as well as many of the characters you grew to... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: Christopher Nolan is a filmmaker known for his grand, twisty narratives which move in service of big real-world ideas, and though 'Interstellar,' is a prime example of that, it's the film's utterly incredible atmosphere and, cruciall... Read the full review »

WHAT I LIKED: Make no mistake, 'The 100 Year Old Man who Climbed out of the Window and Disappeared,' is as much an off-the-wall comedy as its ridiculous title suggests, however it can equally be said that - like with all good comedies - there's a... Read the full review »
