  • WHAT I LIKED: Make no mistake, 'The 100 Year Old Man who Climbed out of the Window and Disappeared,' is as much an off-the-wall comedy as its ridiculous title suggests, however it can equally be said that - like with all good comedies - there's a lot to love underneath too. Yes perhaps what strikes you most about the film (I'll be damned if I'm writing out its title again) is its underlying charm, as its tonal arrangement largely embodies the characteristics of the wacky lead. We all know a fairly annoying, very charming and rather hilarious elderly person, and watching this film doesn't only remind you of that because of its character; it also does so because the film itself dodders along in a similar vain. All in all it's rather like watching an old relative talk about their life, which for the most part, is a very enjoyable and often rather amusing experience.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: Much like when you sit down and hear someone's life story; things get a little plotty, the thematic narratives are weak, and some parts simply get lost in translation.
VERDICT: A thoroughly funny and enjoyable film that amplifies the feeling of hearing a loved one's life story from start to finish. Bear in mind folks, that may well be as much a compliment as it isn't one, but the overall experience will undoubtedly charm.
