The Ides Of March makes politics look like an intense game a chess. Democrats vs Republicans. Honestly surprised we don't have more films about political debates! The reason why I compared this to chess was due to the intelligent methodology that... Read the full review »

My Week With Marilyn showcases how powerful Monroe really was. Perhaps not in the sense of authority, but her ability to be the most important person in a room. On a stage, down a street or even waltzing through a school, everyone knew who she was... Read the full review »

A Tale of Two Sisters, ladies and gentlemen, is now my favourite horror film. I took some time to reflect (after an hour of calming down) and without a doubt I can honestly say this is a masterpiece. Yes yes yes yes YES! Words cannot describe how... Read the full review »

Apollo 13 is smart, captivating and a classic from the 90's. Y'know, it never ceases to amaze me how well films age. Whether it's a flashy blockbuster or a low budget drama, ageing is a curse that thousands of films succumb to. Apollo 13 though, s... Read the full review »

Edge of Darkness is a conspiracy thriller that just feels...odd. I can't really describe the feeling when I watch this film, I neither love it or hate it...I just feel really mixed. Like it just exists. Coming hot off of Casino Royale, Martin Camp... Read the full review »

Snowden is a competently made biopic that addresses immediate issues in today's world. Edward Snowden. Some may view him as a criminal for breaking the law and leaking secure information from the NSA, however the film took a more patriotic approac... Read the full review »

House of Flying Daggers is yet another visually arresting martial arts classic. Zhang Yimou really is one of the best directors of this genre (I also recommend you watch Hero). This is a tale of love, betrayal and, again, some damn good swordplay.... Read the full review »

Anonymous ambitiously conveys the theory that Shakespeare did not write a single play. A theory that I am very much interested in, The Oxfordian Theory proposes that the Earl of Oxford actually wrote the plays and penned Shakespeare to them. Being... Read the full review »

Batman V Superman is one messy behemoth of a superhero epic. Trying to review this is like advising Lois Lane to go away and stop being a plot convenience...it's just damn difficult. So I'm going to be more specific in my review. Yes, Snyder's sty... Read the full review »

The Incredibles is the pinnacle of superhero animation. Not to mention this is my favourite Pixar animation, this is also my favourite superhero film. A genre that is ridiculously exhausted now, The Incredibles took superheroes and made them relat... Read the full review »

Foxcatcher is described as an "electrifying thriller", but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Based on the true events of John du Pont forming a wrestling team with the Schultz brothers for the 1988 Olympic Games. It's a story of both power and con... Read the full review »

Can't find a film you are looking for?

Not sure if it's just me, but seems that some of the pages get stuck loading. Films such as The Loved Ones, Anonymous (2011) and House of Flying Daggers do not seem to be loading so I can't post a review. View the full reply »

Platoon is so much more than just your average war film. This is actually rather intelligent, both in its plot and technical execution. It's the Vietnam War, we follow a platoon of US soldiers as they attempt to wipe out the enemy. The question th... Read the full review »

47 Metres Down should've been titled "47 Reasons Why This Disaster Will Make You Feel Down". It's not often a film so bad irritates me, but perhaps once a year there is always one. I'm confident in saying that this...this...abysmal piece of pure s... Read the full review »

Hugo (2011)

9 / 10
Hugo is probably Scorsese's most overlooked film. In my opinion, this is an absolute joy to watch from start to finish. Whether you are a child or adult, there is definitely something here for you to admire. It's incredibly ambitious and stuffed w... Read the full review »

The Girl With All The Gifts is a prime example why British zombie films are the best. When you compare something like 28 Days Later to World War Z, the former is head and shoulders above the latter. There is something about the backdrop of England... Read the full review »
