The Breakfast Club (1985)

9 / 10

WHAT I LIKED: John Hughes' 'The Breakfast Club,' is an insanely smart character study that places five wildly different teens in a detention and has them slowly unravel and understand each other in front of us. They begin as strangers; a recluse,... Read the full review »

Girl in the Basement (2021)

3 / 10

Last week or so, I recommended Knives Out to my girlfriend and she loved the hell out of it so this week, it was her turn to recommend something for me. Her pick: Girl In The Basement. Once I figured out that this was actually based on true events... Read the full review »

Cruising (1980)

7 / 10

Cruising, a controversial film by one of cinemas most unpredictable directors, has the promise of a deeper film. Following Al Pacino as undercover cop Steve Burns into the S&M homosexual underworld of New York causes an identity crisis within the... Read the full review »

Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)

5 / 10

While I enjoyed the action and the overall concept of Hollow Earth the characters were just awful. Also, I wasn’t a fan of how sci-if the whole series went. Godzilla (2014) and Kong Skull Island (2017) were both grounded in reality, but the last... Read the full review »

RoboCop (1987) added to Films watched in 2021 list.

RoboCop (1987)

8 / 10

RoboCop is a brilliant satire which doesn't really need an introduction. The titular character is a giant in pop culture iconography. In fact, the entire movie is! It's likely that, even if one is viewing the film for the first time, you will reco... Read the full review »

Two Distant Strangers (2020)

7 / 10

Remember all those other times I keep bringing up darkness induced audience apathy to discuss how too clinically depressing a movie becomes? Well, after watching “Two Distant Strangers”, I think I have a better understanding as to what that ac... Read the full review »

Thunder Force (2021)

2 / 10

So, “Thunder Force”.....it has not been doing well as of late. And after three separate attempts at trying and failing to get past the first forty minutes, I can see why. I’m not even going to beat around the bush here; right off the bat,... Read the full review »

The Age of Innocence (1993)

WHAT I LIKED: Earlier in his career, you might have been forgiven for calling Scorsese a fairly naturalistic filmmaker. In pictures like 'Raging Bull,' he generally left his camera moving at a relative distance from his characters; letting them li... Read the full review »

Page Eight (2011)

8 / 10

WHAT I LIKED: David Hare's 'Page Eight,' is basically Le Carré for a Sunday afternoon. On the one hand, just like the legendary author's work, its brilliantly-realised espionage story of shady dealings and political corruption suggests that few... Read the full review »
