The Father (2021) added to 2021 movies - ranked list.

WHAT I LIKED: Florian Zeller's 'The Father,' paints a heart-wrenching picture of what it must be like to live with dementia by showing a sufferer's (Anthony Hopkins) relationship with his daughter and carers through confused eyes. Initially, we se... Read the full review »

Calendar Girls (2003)

8 / 10

WHAT I LIKED: 'Calendar Girls,' is a film of two halves; the first a heart-warming, hilarious true tale of a bunch of middle-aged women attempting a nude calendar to raise money in honour of one of their late husbands, and the second their resulti... Read the full review »

The Kindred (2022)

2 / 10

A poor man’s hybrid of Memento and Rosemarys Baby, bio-fascination was the only thing of any interest leading into “The Kindred” for me….until even that completely bleeds out not even halfway through. So…I can be convinced to overlook... Read the full review »

Don't Look Up (2021)

8 / 10

Witty, funny, and overall an enjoyable experience. Don't Look Up may be a little on the nose with some of its social and political commentary, but that doesn't affect the overall effectiveness of the film. Read the full review »

The Tragedy of Macbeth (2021)

Promising Young Woman (2020)

8 / 10

WHAT I LIKED: Emerald Fennell's 'Promising Young Woman' is the most masterful takedown of hidden, complicit and ingrained misogyny that I've ever seen. In it, the central character Cassandra (Carey Mulligan) repeatedly goes out alone and acts dru... Read the full review »

Pig (2021)

8 / 10

WHAT I LIKED: Michael Sarnoski's 'Pig' is a film that clearly and masterfully paints the picture of a man as he is now, and then slowly unravels who he used to be. Today, he's a truffle farmer called Robin who doesn't care about anything except h... Read the full review »
