  • WHAT I LIKED: 'Calendar Girls,' is a film of two halves; the first a heart-warming, hilarious true tale of a bunch of middle-aged women attempting a nude calendar to raise money in honour of one of their late husbands, and the second their resulting brush with fame and success.
The former is where it really shines, as the performances are all wonderful and the script isn't shy of its story's sadness and sillyness, and the result will tug at your heart strings and make you laugh in equal measure.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: The second half sees the team lose sight of what it's all about, and far too often we're supposed to revel in their success rather than really engage with that fact.

VERDICT: 'Calendar Girls,' sees a charming, funny and heart-warming true story brought to life by great performances and a variably good script.
