You know what “Bad Education” further elaborated me on about businesses and systems in general? There’s a gradual line between leadership as a team unit and situational leadership but leadership has to be consistent no matter what. This movie tells more than just your typical con-artist story or a life-altering scandal or a relevant tale about the broken school system. It’s a sad yet polarizing tale on how easily major transgressions can go unnoticed when the wronged parties are none the wiser. The striking and vulnerable performances from Hugh Jackman and Allison Janney give us a good taste of the banality of personal frustration, situational leadership and entitlement, never turning its compromised characters into easily dismissed comic monsters while the pacing and cinematography is essentially top-teir quality. Characters are surprisingly three dimensional, I did laugh occasionally at some of the dark humor displayed, the script was deceivingly smart with clever dialogue that spoke a couple levels to me, the costumes and make-up establishes the early 2000’s/21st Century vibe and the writing is prolific.

I have nothing else to say. Outside of me not catching some of the dark humorous moments and the first act taking a while to set up what the rest of the film is supposed to be about, I’ve got myself another film of the year contender here.
