    Saving Private Ryan is THE war film. It's the Spielberg WWII epic that everyone knows, everyone has seen and everyone loves. It will always be the ultimate snub at the Academy Awards (darn you Shakespeare In Love!). Successful war film recipe: Get famous actors (Tom Hanks, Matt Damon...check), plenty of explosions and gunfire (check!) and always include heartfelt tragic deaths of comrades (check, check and check!). It just makes you want to shout "America! Hell Yeah!" (I'm British and I still shout it). This, ladies and gentleman, is my favourite war epic.
