The biggest question I had going into this film was whether or not Alden Ehrenreich would be able to capture the spirit of Han Solo. I was pleasantly surprised instantly I felt like Ehrenreich was Han and maybe not the Han we knew from the original trilogy but that is the point he isn't that Han just yet. The other big thing I was worried about was the chemistry between Han and other notable characters mainly Chewbacca. I was hesitant mainly due to Chewbacca be entirely potrayed by Joonas Suotamo. Again, I was pleasantly surprised Han and Chewie immediately felt like Han and Chewie. But the absolute stand of the film was Donald Glover as Lando. He oozed charisma the moment he appeared on screen he looked like Lando, he sounded like him, he was Lando. Ron Howard also did an outstanding job directing this film especially given the events with the previous directors that led to him joining he project. There are several absolutely stunning action set piece particularly the one that was shown in the trailer that takes place on a train.

I only had a couple issue with the films. My first issue is with the pacing of the film the are parts the feel a bit jumpy but I kind of expect as much due to the issue the film had while in production. My other issue was that certain plot elements were predictable and so much so that you can predict them just from the trailers but they are executed well.

Anchored by a solid performance by Ehrenreich and standout performances from Joonas Suotamo, as Chewbacca, and Donald Glover, as Lando, Solo: A Star Wars Story was fun film that felt like a Star Wars film. Even though some of the plot points were predictable there were a few surprises that answer some big questions in canon.
