  • Miss Sloane is in a niche of films I personally love: political thrillers. This is all about gun lobbying, and fortunately this was released at quite a relevant time with gun crimes increasing every year. As the story progresses, the plot loses credibility but the theatrics are required to make the film entertaining. That's my only negative, this thriller had it all! The talented Jessica Chastain literally owns this role, I didn't see her...all I saw was Elizabeth Sloane. I was absolutely mesmerised and she should've been nominated for more awards. Supporting cast was also of high caliber, particularly Mark Strong and Michael Stuhlbarg. The direction was clean and clinical, perfect for a professional political thriller. The character development was consistent, this is part character study on a woman who lives for work...so much so that it has become an obsession. Sloane is ruthless, emotionless and tactile. The narrative was interesting, jumping between the present and past to slowly unravel the plot. There are a few twists and turns just to keep you guessing. The musical score was also noteworthy and heightened the experience. All in all, this is one of the best political thrillers I've seen in years. Highly highly HIGHLY recommended.
