[Review] The Neon Demon (2016)

As with Drive (2011) and Only God Forgives (2013), this Nicolas Winding Refn directed film focuses heavily on stylization. Every frame of this stunning film is an incredibly thought-out piece of art. The film's visuals are paired perfectly with an incredible score by Cliff Martinez to immerse you in the world Refn has created.

The story is highly original and provides some very shocking moments and surprises. Elle Fanning was excellent as the popular young model who is quickly on her way to superstardom. For me, though, Jena Malone was the one that stole the film. Her character is unbelievably memorable and shocking, and her portrayal of the character was incredible.

My only complaint with this film is that some of the pure stylization scenes dragged a bit long and took away from the story.

The Neon Demon (2016) is a film that left me speechless. I wanted to re-watch it as soon as I finished it. I give The Neon Demon an 8/10.
