  • Pulp Fiction is a milestone in cinematic history. It truly is, I mean many cinephiles will place this in their top ten of all time. For me, whilst it is absolutely superb...I have two minor issues that prevent it from getting the perfect score. Pulp Fiction has achieved a lot. It resurrected John Travolta's career and is probably his best performance. It gave us Samuel L Jackson's best scene with him reciting Ezekiel. It is one of the best original screenplays ever, it might just be the best. It is Tarantino's best direction, he uses plenty of single shots and everything is smooth like silk, even the transitions! It is one of the first films to utilise a non-linear narrative structure, and it does it so well. The supporting cast is excellent and for many it is their best performance (Uma Thurman, Ving Rhames). So so so so many memorable scenes, the whole film itself is just a montage of quotable scenes. The soundtrack is also noteworthy, many classics being used. My two minor problems: Quentin Tarantino cannot act and should not have allowed himself to be in the film. The diner scene with Vincent and Mia is stretched out for far too long, I mean 20 minutes is just unnecessary. Tarantino has a habit of prolonging scenes and certain segments for character development but really...there is no development at all. So whilst I am not giving this the perfect 10/10, it is truly a milestone and an absolute enthralling film that everyone needs to watch. Oh, and it does make you want to eat a Big Kahuna Burger...
