  • The Boss fails to be a comedy. I counted one smile, I didn't laugh once. Having said that, it's not the worst 99 minutes ever. Some scenes were fun like the cookie girl showdown. Peter Dinklage was just over-the-top great and Kristen Bell tried her best with the script. The comedy couple that is Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone just tried too hard and it didn't pay off. McCarthy plays her normal self yet again, slowly becoming bored of it now. Falcone's direction was fine, nothing special though. The main problem is the script, it just was not funny at all. It tried too hard at being vulgar and using curse words rather than being clever which is a shame. The story itself is unmemorable and we've seen it all before, rich person loses everything and has to bring themselves up again and in doing so finds love and compassion. Meh, just completely meh. I feel nothing for it, not hatred or love. It's watchable, just not memorable.
