  Sometimes when you review a movie that looks so pointless, stupid, and downright atrocious, you must step back and consider its target audience. “The Angry Birds Movie 2” is a movie nobody wanted nor needed, yet it’s one that will thoroughly delight the little ones while also making the adults chuckle. It’s skillfully animated, features eccentric voice talent, and the topsy-turvy energy of the story is surprisingly entertaining.
  
  With a positive message of working together and becoming friends with your enemies, this sequel pairs the flightless angry birds with the menacing green piggies. Red (Jason Sudeikis), Chuck (Josh Gad), and Bomb (Danny McBride) enlist the help of Chuck’s brainy sister Silver (Rachel Bloom) to devise a plan to stop a dangerous new threat from evil Eagle Island villain, Zeta (Leslie Jones). Zeta wants to shoot ice lava bombs at Pig Island too, causing leader Leonard (Bill Hader) to seek help from his rivals. Everyone bands together to protect their respective homes.
  
  There’s a cute subplot with the three tiny hatchlings, adorable little fuzzy birds who lose a trio of eggs and have a series of misadventures to get them back home. Their vignettes come at random moments in the story, which adds to the breezy, chaotic feel of the film. This is short attention span theater, but the rapid pace also prevents the film from boring audiences.
  
  This movie is very stupid and silly, but it’s also very funny. There’s a good mix of slapstick and physical humor, as well as a few rude jokes for the kiddos and whimsical visual gags for their parents. The animation is bright, colorful, and hard not to like, and the soundtrack packs in so many catchy pop classics that it sometimes feels more like a three minute music video than a feature length film.
  
  “Angry Birds 2” is one of the rare animated sequels where the entire family can buy a ticket and leave satisfied that they didn’t just completely waste a couple of hours of their summer.
