After finishing the Wickerman I felt so odd, restless even. It was kind of creepy but undeniably cheesy at other points. The score was almost alien to me and the performances, particularly Christopher Lee, were unnerving.

So, when finishing the Wickerman I felt odd. Just odd. This is it's genius. It's so polarising that you can't help but feel uncomfortable. The mask at the start sets up this feeling. It's not scary it's just odd.

The score is incredible in this film. Taking from original folk songs, the score is simultaneously creepy and joyful, reflecting both the islanders perspective and Howie's confusion.

This film is a staple of horror. Like The Shining, the fear of the unknown is sharpened to a point. It is used in broad strokes with confidence with no regard to whether it hits or misses. For me, this film is undoubtedly a bit.
