  • Birdman (or the unexpected blah blah no one uses the full title) is all about a washed up actor trying to get back into the game and become relevant. I found this to be utterly compelling. I viewed it as a microcosm of Michael Keaton's actual career...he used to be popular, then he became nothing and this film was going to bring him back on track (in which it did). The casting was genius, I do love me some Naomi Watts and the underrated Andrea Riseborough. The technique of a "one shot" film made the experience even more appealing, Alejandro Inarritu is one heck of a talent. The mixture of surrealism and realism was well blended. I'm not so keen on Edward Norton, but that's a personal taste. All in all, a cracking good film both technically and emotionally.
