  High school reunions are mostly good for one thing: to see the one that got away. That’s exactly the goal of Luke (Rupert Penry-Jones), who is in town to find out what happened to his longtime crush and ex-sweetheart, Kayla (Rachel Blanchard). Hoping to reignite the spark, Luke discovers she’s now married with two kids — and is also a little nuts. Desperate to escape Kayla’s aggressive advances, he asks a woman he just met at the hotel check-in desk named Abby (Natasha Little) to pretend to be his wife for the weekend.
  
  This is a basic blueprint for a romantic comedy, and it’s wholly predictable from the get-go. If you aren’t a fan of surprises in your movie entertainment, this one’s for you. The film is awkward but satisfying, and it’s refreshing to see a rom-com that features average characters that look like your real friends and neighbors (instead of some ridiculous glamorous, perfect pair with exciting careers and flawless good looks). It’s a down-to-Earth unlikely love story.
  
  Blanchard is a blast as she goes full-on crazy, often in a drunken stupor and spewing the most inappropriate things in public. Her sexual advances and verbal attacks are funny, and she provides most of the comic relief (“I’ve always wanted to try crack!”). This isn’t a laugh-a-minute script however, and there’s a surprising amount of raunchy humor.
  
  The movie is not particularly memorable, but it’s enjoyable if you like the genre. Just like its lead characters, it’s average: but in a good way. “Getting to Know You” may be lacking in star power, but it has a winning formula that will appeal to those seeking a grown-up romantic comedy.
