I've only seen a handful of war films, but Mel Gibson directed the hell of this movie. There's no pacifying the horrors of war here with bodies often shown shot up, blown to pieces, torched with fire--blood, intestines, and the like. Definitely not for sensitive viewers. But Mel balances out the savagery with moments of heart and heroism. Highly recommended.1 member likes this review.
