28 Days Later is not a horror. Sure it's an 18 rated film, and yes there are infected people. But deep down this is a drama regarding a few survivalists as they fight for their lives. Danny Boyle is ridiculously good when it comes to character building, and he does it again here. Cillian Murphy and Naomie Harris are excellent and their characters slowly build up emotionally and soon become attached to each other. It's a rather riveting drama, but again this is not a horror film (in my opinion). Unfortunately though, it's becoming quite dated and the bluray shows it. It's not Boyle's best work, but he has started a franchise worthy of his name being associated with it.
