As a movie on its own and as a followup to its successful predecessor, I consider “The Matrix Reloaded” to be a very competent if not underrated sequel. We get both sides of the coin seeing how much the Matrix ties into Zion and vice-versa, Smith is a more dangerous threat, acting is still pretty solid with the new arrivals knocking it out of the ball park, the action sequences, if you can ignore the dodgy CG, become more free-willing and ridiculously over the top and it’s attempt to tell a bigger story with more risks and put more at stake with more characters and consequences was well appreciated and most of the time, it worked.

Now It’s reasonings behind its hatred can be understood but I found enjoyment in all the muddled confusion. Yes, it can be sloppy, it does take a little while to get going, the plot can be confusing and the film’s philosophical messages about control, love, moral duty, hope etc aren’t as tightly woven in as before considering there’s more of them in here but given the film’s runtime and how much they had to cram in and splice together, it could’ve been a LOT MORE WORSE.
