This film was a haunting and meditative journey of lost souls searching for redemption, showcasing a poignant examination of the complexities of one's own identity and the relationships they have. I find this film challenged the American myth of freedom and escape. Instead it reveals a narrative of confinement through one's past. In the end of this film I found it was less about finally arriving at a destination, rather it was more about a beginning of an end, the kind where it is a chance to rediscover one's self not only for Jane but for Travis as well. A bittersweet selfless acceptance of the impossibility of erasing the past. Closure is not necessarily always about reunion, but sometimes about the strength it takes to walk away.
