WHAT I LIKED: Every now and then, a character will say something in a film that just so happens to capture exactly what the audience are thinking. Right at the start of 'Baywatch,' Zac Efron quite sincerely asks "are you serious right now?" These were my thoughts exactly, as on the one hand there's certainly an absurdist and hilarious charm to the absolute madness on display here.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: At the same time however, any genuine engagement in what's going on is impossible, as the attempts at characterisation, plot and atmosphere are all completely laughable.
VERDICT: You're never quite sure if 'Baywatch,' is serious or not. It's hilarious regardless, but it never seriously engages you even when it's trying.0 member like this review.
