Dunkirk is a technical masterpiece. Christopher Nolan out-does himself with immersive filmmaking at its finest, combining incredible cinematography, with a blood pumping score to produce arguably the finest war film ever made. While the characters may not be fully fleshed out, the purpose is not to show the side of war that breathes life and prosperity, but rather the bleak and harsh reality that your character and personality does not matter in the darkest times of war, all that matters is that you survive. Nolan has made yet another marvelous film by painting a stark realism that very few directors will dare to cross, and very few directors could achieve with a PG-13 rating.
