  • While Christopher Nolan's majestic ambitions continually yield bold, visually striking projects, his abilities as a storyteller have deteriorated significantly. The true account of the evacuation of Dunkirk is heartwarming and thrilling, two sensations this film is never able to produce. Nolan presents the least compelling characters of his career and puts them to work in a monotonous film that had me regularly checking both my watch and my pulse. Dunkirk is a surprising dud and the worst film of Nolan's career.
