Forrest Gump is legendary in the world of film. There is no better word. Everything about it is perfect. Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Robert Zemeckis' direction, the story, the narrative, the soundtrack, the memorable characters and quotes. I don't need to go into detail, we've all seen it and we can all atleast appreciate these elements. But for me what makes this a powerful film is the fact as soon as you turn it on...boom, you are captivated. Literally watched it with my family who were going to go out, 2 hours later and they are still watching it with me. It's just clever. It's a brief history lesson in the second half of the 20th century whilst also being a character study on Gump. A ridiculously likeable fellow with a low IQ. It truly shows that you don't have to be smart or talented to lead a good and enjoyable life. This remains Tom Hanks' and Robert Zemeckis' best film to date and with that, I just have to give it the perfect score. Truly outstanding, they just don't make films like these anymore.
