As a movie in general, “A Star Is Born (2018)” is a well written, well directed and well constructed tearjerker of a love story, intertwining melodrama with tragedy in the confines of music and life itself and a down to earth and remarkable tale that I just never wanted to end. As a reboot off of a popular musical, it is by far one of the better reboots I’ve seen let alone one that is vastly superior to its predecessors. The acting is amazing, the music is phenomenal, the story is so emotionally driven within the first 30 minutes and it doesn’t hold back leaving no stone unturned, the chemistry between Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper was astonishing and the social commentary about the means around addiction, loss and the enigma surrounding become a mainstream music star pulled a lot of strings on me. I plan on becoming a songwriter or a musician one day as well and this movie really opened my third eye to the idea of it but I didn’t mind being told the cold hearted truth about the reality of it all cause I loved every second of this film.

There's real vitality in Cooper's direction in the early chapters, and, in the performances of the co-stars, there comes an understanding of the ravages of romance and the trials and tribulations of a musical artist that justifies putting ourselves through the paces of this sad story. It’s original in its own way while adding multiple nods back to each of the originals that came before it in a way that it still maintains its own identity while not coming off as watered down or holding anything back.

No other way to say it: this was my favorite film of 2018.
