Much like how Outlaw King is mostly based on a true events in Scotland, The King is very similar. It's not even based on what happened in Scotland, it's based on the play by William Shakespeare. It's based on historical reality too but good God, the movie is historically inaccurate. In many steps that could break a movie but that doesn't stop from enjoying those medieval movies. Hal played by Timothée Chalamet, the son of King Henry IV of England who is uninterested in succeeding his father and spends his days drinking, whoring, and jesting with his companion John Falstaff played by Joel Edgerton. His father summons his son and told him that his brother, Thomas, will inherit the throne. Thomas is sent to defeat Hotspur but is upstaged by the arrival of Hal who challenges Hotspur to single combat. He ends the battle by killing him, He's informed by William Gascoigne played by Sean Harris, that his father is dying and his brother, Thomas, is killed in battle at Wales. Henry IV dies in his bed and Hal is king known by the name of King Henry V of England. Now while this movie has something truly exciting happening it only has two battle scenes and most of this movie is all about the drama about the war politics in England. Robert Pattinson makes a good performance as the french Dauphin, Louis. He makes a decent villain in this. So now as the final battle is about to end all I see is that doesn't end until a couple of minutes. Imagine but that is if you only have seen the movie and didn't know what's going to happen. As is, it's a good movie for the best but not impeccable but enjoyable. It had good acting, good story based on William Shakespeare loosely and it had good cinematography. If you want a good Netflix film that'll brighten your mood, this is the one to check out, that is if you get over the historical inaccuracies.
