Tom Cruise was perfection in this role that perfectly captured the charisma that Cruise can bring to the screen. I don't think anyone else would have been convincing in the role. The character of Barry felt like was Cruise was supposed to be in The Mummy earlier this year. The chemistry between Cruise and Sarah Wright, who places Seal's wife Lucy, was believable and the comedic timing between the both of them felt completely natural.

I only have one real negative and that was the pacing. Normally when there is an issue with pacing it's that the movie moves too slow or moves at an inconsistent speed but American Made moves too fast. The time period jumps multiple times throughout the film and you're meant to believe that Barry has been running his operation for years but because of how fast the movie moves it only feels like a few months.

This film was just an all-around good film. While it probably won't win any awards. The balance of humor and drama that Liman and Cruise are able to bring to life made this film captivating. This is definitely a film I would recommend you go see in theaters.
