I’ve never been more ashamed to watch a “Robin Hood” movie than I have today. In fact, I don’t even know if that was even a Robin Hood movie that I even watched. The entire movie just reeks of laziness. Yes, I get it: the film is ridiculously silly with literally every choice that it makes but it literally loathes itself with its self-seriousness every opportunity that it gets only to fall flat on its keister and then get martyred. Apart from ONE unrealistic action sequence in a horse chase, the other action scenes were far from appealing even more so since most of them they barely last two and a half minutes. Nothing about this movie boats any meaningful suspense or tension in ways that help build up the dynamic for the story and all of the integral characters and I do mean EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM are completely one or two-dimensional archetypes that are completely static. They don’t grow, they don’t change and they definitely don’t evolve to advance the plot but then again, what the hell did I expect from a movie so silly and self-serious that can’t even bother to keep its own identity in check? The film doesn’t even know what it wants to be so it resorts to stealing from other sources to try and pass it up as its own.

The director behind this, Otto Bathurst, actually made this his cinematic directorial debut and it shows in the worst possible way. It really does give off the impression that he never knew how to properly splice together a movie of this magnitude so if that’s the case, here’s what I have to say: Hollywood is the big boys club, not the practicing ground for you to drop your first mixtape. Please go home, study your craft some more and don’t come back until you suck less. Please.....
