  • The Visit is a return to form for M. Night Shyamalan, that's not saying much but he works so well with a lower budget...so don't give him money, he'll waste it. Some kids meet their grandparents, creepy stuff happens and of course you have a famous Shyamalan twist...which I did NOT see coming. Hell yeah that was a good twist. The overall creepiness and suspense was well developed and the pace was brisk. That being said, I felt the film struggled with what tone it was trying to set. Is it a comedy? Is it a horror? Problem is, it was too serious for it to be both so the tone was uneven. The child actors were fine, but the rapping that the boy does infuriated me and was ridiculously cringey. The Visit is a step in the right direction, I just wish it knew what it wanted to be.
