I went into this film blind. I hadn't seen a trailer or any promotional material and to be honest if I had I probably would have scoffed at Searching and skipped it. That would have been my loss. Searching is a creative and fresh spin on the modern thriller. Chaganty has made his mark in his feature debut. He carries the audience through the story builds the tension allowing it to come head at the perfect time. The incredible direction was only enhanced by the editing talents of Nick Johnson and Will Merrick. The combination of the direction and the editing gave the film a feeling of franticness that drew you into the story. John Cho delivers a gripping performance that makes you really wonder the length he's willing to go to find his daughter.

My only issue with the film and honestly its a bit nitpicky is that the suspension of disbelief required for a few things that happen in the film are a bit of a reach. But like I said that me being nitpicky and to be honest I didn't even notice some of the things until they were pointed out by the characters or until I started analyzing the film after it was over.

A combination of masterful editing, a chilling yet immersive score, captivating performances, and a director with a creative and unique vision everything about this film serves to draw you into the story. Even with an almost 2-hour runtime the flies by.
