Whatever lied beyond the current of “The Curse Of La Llorona” is all but sunken under the weight of its own sins: cheap jumpscares, predictable storytelling and a formula that has been done to death to the point of over-saturation. It doesn’t even try to attempt to do anything different as it’s over-reliance on its formula does nothing but leave logistical errors at the fault of its characters and leave you cursed for all the wrong reasons. If you have something that’s been done to death before, it becomes predictable and when it becomes predictable, there’s a severe lack of suspense and tension and when there’s a severe lack of suspense of tension, the film as a whole becomes painstakingly BORING. Aside from the performances (which isn’t really saying much), a family dynamic you actually begin to care for and that brief little Conjuring tie-in to the rest of its universe, this film was frustrating.

If this wasn’t much of anything, what do you expect “Annabelle Comes Home” will give us? Same curse, same bag of tricks.
