If Happy Death Day got me invested in this crazy loop, then “Happy Death Day 2U” doesn’t make me want to leave it. There is a fine line between this suspension of disbelief that comes with the core plotline of this story but upon sporting a sci-fi twist that’s just as ridiculous as it’s comedy, it’s inventive yet convoluted story and it’s top tier performances, this film does builds upon the foundation of its predecessor albeit just not to many refreshing results. The twists and surprises are less impactful this time around minus one at the beginning and even if you take away the sci-fi gimmick, it’s still technically the exact same story just with a lot more emotion at the core.

You can consider it to be the same ol’ schtick as before but remember, there’s a formula behind a lot of these movies and like I’ve mentioned before, why break something that didn’t need to be broken? Yes, the film is somewhat more or less the same but at least Christopher Landon took a risk with the premise and rolled with it. And you know what? It worked.

I am unsure, however, if I’ll be able to roll with the potential threequel if this film actually does well and gets a third film so until then......thank u, next.
