  What a pity. All of the energy, and hype, went into the continuous shot idea. As a result the film was lacking in any real empathy with the characters. The script was awful forcing the characters to come across as wooden. Cinematically stunning which is why it has won awards for the cinematography etc. I would doubt that people would leave the cinema feeling as wrung out as they would have done , say , after Saving Private Ryan or The Deerhunter.
