For the younger generation, “Kim Possible (2019)” can be considered a fair attempt at introducing them to the classic 2000’s heroine and for the ones who’ve stuck with Kim Possible since 2002, you’re probably gonna find literally every excuse under the sun to hate on this made-for-TV Disney Channel movie. But to me, I take no shame in admitting that upon second their viewing, I ended up liking this movie.

The main core protagonists and antagonists take the borderline personalities from their respective characters and nail them to an extent via adding in their own little guru formula to the mix. The story is nothing special but as Kim Possible lore goes, that’s pretty much the basic formula. Special effects, set design and the cartoonish vibe felt all throughout live up to the Disney Channel standards. Some characters I didn’t really care for, meldodrama either gets overused or not used at all when it’s needed and the fact they dedicate more than half of this story to Kim trying to figure out what and who she is upon overcoming imperfection and jealousy just to override all of it with a predicate ending twist that I should’ve seen coming, I dunno why but it really freakin’ irked me.

Hell, even I have to admit, the modernization of the story itself didn’t completely get though to me at first not just cause of writer creative issues but because it’s mostly been hacked to death since the beginning of time. There’s even a point where they mention nobody leaves the lair anymore and that Drakken line: “Imagine the cruel memes”. God, I can’t stand that line.

But overall, I had as much fun as it would allow me to and most of that’s thanks to the characters and the corniness it builds off from the actual show. Regardless of how others might view this, you can’t deny they actually tried to make something worth while with this one. I know it doesn’t matter what we could’ve gotten if we got what we got but what we got was nowhere near as bad as other make it out to be, so for that I applaud this movie cause the effort paid off.
