Blonde is based on Joyce Carol Oates' novel of the same name. This award-worthy film is a fictionalized account of Marilyn Monroe's life, although some elements are true, there's a lot of blurring. Regardless, this is not a happy account of her life and most certainly will be difficult
for some to watch, due to its dark themes and graphic depictions. Even JCO says Marilyn endured far worse than what's in the book. Stylistically this film is closer to the also divisive Spencer. Bluntly, if you enjoyed that film, you will get Blonde's slow burn nature, using startlingly artistic visions, hypnotic camera shots and the like. If not, this film is not for you.
