To say “Dolittle”, well.....did little in trying to either entertain, enthrall or inspire us is not even the tip of the iceberg as to where this movie drastically fails. They literally threw most of this well-established cast to the wolves and everybody both in front of and behind the camera suffered from half-baked, blatantly lazy characters and set-designs that barely had any significance to the story, comedy values that will only entertain THE YOUNGEST of viewers out there, it’s editing is incredibly uneven, most of the CGI isn’t convincing, the tone is rather unorthodox while the pacing makes the film either too fast or too slow for its own good and if RDJ’s muddled accent, aesthetic chaos and over-reliance of fart jokes weren’t enough to turn you away, then maybe the fact that they managed to take three completely different tales from the book and crumble them all together into a mediocre and aggressively boring story with barely any significance to tie the threads together is enough to.
Films like this are made specifically for the younger crowd in mind and I know for a fact, there are some kids that’ll eat this shit up.....but kids deserve better than this. There’s just no excuse for this sloppy of an execution especially with this big of a cast and this hopelessly big of a budget. As a action movie, it fails. As an adventure movie, it fails. As it comedy movie, it is downright pathetic and as a kids movie, there are so many more endearing films that appease to both audiences and prove that you could do much better with this kind of material, especially in January. Wait for the summer if you have to see this but—no, just don’t waste your time.0 member like this review.
