UPDATED REVIEW: Harleyquinn The Movie, I mean Suicide Squad, is just bad. I'm sorry...actually I'm not sorry, this should've been miles better. I can only assume studio interference caused this to be a mess. The positives: I like the style, some nice stylish touches from David Ayer, Jai Courtney is one of the standouts (never thought I'd say that) and the soundtrack is ace. So there are the four marks that I will be giving it, it failed to get another six because of many many elements. Every actor here tried too hard, it starts to become pantomime. Margin Robbie as Harleyquinn was annoying, she might look the part but good lord the execution of her lines were terrible. Jared Leto's Joker interpretation was way too different just for the sake of it, me no likey. Will Smith was Will Smith. Cara Delevingne was just there to shake her arms and ass like she's in a Zumba class. Viola Davis aimed to be emotionless, she succeeded...but I don't think she intended her performance to be boring though. The story is downright generic, evil villain wants to take over the world. So obviously we include a sky beam and a CGI disposable army because heck, why not!? It's literally 20 minutes of character introduction, action scene, stupid dialogue, action scene, more stupid dialogue, final battle, the end. The script was horrific and includes such great lines as: "We must be some sort of Suicide Squad!", "Puddin'" and of course plenty of Joker laughs. The theatrical version was evidently missing scenes as the whole editing was a mess. Look, this isn't the worst superhero movie, but my God it's one of the weakest. The DCEU just continues its downward trend...
