I still feel conflicted with everything I watched but at the end of the day, it’s safe to say “Charlie’s Angels (2019)” barely, and I mean BARELY manages take flight but comes to an indefinite crash-landing. The film isn’t destined to be Heaven bound anytime soon but it doesn’t necessarily move at Half Throttle either which is somewhat better than what I saw in the 2000’s movies. Acting wise is a definite plus as the three main leads manage to have some threads of solid chemistry throughout the film with some legitimate funny moments sprinkled here and there and the story, despite being predictable, typical and average, at least manages to do the bare minimum despite a lot of glaring red flags. First of all, about half the action sequences are directly effected by the sloppy editing which in turn falters the pacing, it’s severely lacking in comedy for more than half the movie, the endgame of the foreseeable plot twist ruins yet another classic character, the done to death storyline was made even more with the generic execution and despite being aware of the supposed inherit silliness that this franchise has adapted, the direction Elizabeth Banks took here doesn’t give us any much needed doses of variety. Nothing new is really added and no real risks are taken.

The movie plays it incredibly safe and while it isn’t technically a reboot, it feels like it is. I wanted this film to prove me wrong, I wanted it to be better than the 2000’s versions, I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt SO BAD but execution wise, SONY bollocksed up yet ANOTHER franchise with a reboot that nobody asked for that actually had the potential to succeed but they chose quantity over quality and it blew up in their faces yet AGAIN.

Better luck getting those wings next time, Angels.
