So......”What Men Want” isn’t complete trash. But saying that is being a bit generous because even with Taraji’s performance banter and the message they built at the very crux of the story, the rest of the film feels very, very, very forgettable. I’m not taking anything away from the performances because they were good and I can definitely understand what exactly this movie was trying to tell me from Taraji’s and the directors point of vision but again, you need to do something to keep me interested. And because if it’s unevenness, this just felt like a big pile of.....nothing. I’m not saying the story is a total waste. There are scenes where it does contribute more to revisiting the premise of the 2000 film and it does feel refreshing once she finally gets what she deserves and learn her lesson. Unfortunately, not much gets fulfilled in the end as the overall approach in this film doesn’t offer much closure despite it being predictable.
Not really anything majorly important here but it’s not a huge deal if you miss it. To me, it’s a definite pass.0 member like this review.
