  • Texas Killing Fields is a mediocre crime film. Mediocre in the sense that nothing is memorable and the cast members are just functional. Seriously there are no stand out performances, even the magnificent Jessica Chastain is severely underused which is a crime in itself. The plot was formulaic, even if it's based on true events. Is it a bad film though? Not at all, it's clearly watchable and does have some engrossing moments. There was a sense of realism and grit to it that makes it a true crime drama. I thought the setting was also moody and interesting. I do have to say the ending was absolutely anti-climactic. Oh and the plot couldn't really stay in focus, was either honing in on the missing girl case or the hunt for Jason Clarke's character. But hey, I would watch it again.
