Nice try fellas but I have to be real with you: STUBER is anything but a five star ride. It’s like a maximum two stars at best but that as far as I’ll go because the ride wasn’t really pleasant. I will give props to Batista and Kumail Nanjiani because despite how forced their relationship in the movie is, their chemistry is somewhat subtle and you’ll get a few mild chuckles out of how somewhat enjoyable they make themselves out of the stupidly ridiculous premise. Acting wise, there’s no genuine issue and the same goes with cinematography as odd as it sounds. But everything else just didn’t do it for me. There’s uneven comedy that’s either offensive or not funny at all, uneven editing that left me scratching my head and a generic plotline that’s not only predictable or n very sense of the word but also strung along by “toxic masculinity” that not only make the ride and the destination as unpleasant and unwarranted as possible but it’s completely unnecessary.

This movie feels like, in general, like they were just making it up as they went along. Some scenes felt improvised and everything is just incredibly uneven.

You know something? Me and my family just got back from Florida. We called an Uber to get back to the hotel after lunch so we can get our stuff and head to the airport. The Uber we called, despite checking the location seconds upon seconds after one another, never showed up and nearly wasted 20 minutes of our time. That’s what this film is: it doesn’t reach its destination not because it doesn’t know what to do or where to go because it doesn’t know HOW to get there.
