Unfortunately, there is nothing I can say in favor of this film. A combination of cliche horror tropes, amateur level editing, plot holes, a worthless screenplay, and a plot twist that renders Alice's journey through the past five films irrelevant. The first act of the films seemed to just be a series of jumps scares. Every few minutes there would be a moment when the sound was curtailed and then followed by an ear-splitting jump scares. It wouldn't have been such a big deal if it had been contained to the first act but it wasn't. I t just kept happening over and over and over. That brings us to the incompetent editing. The migraine-inducing, walk-out provoking editing. Every action had so much "shaky-cam" and so many jump cuts that it was impossible to follow. In one scene, someone dies and I had no idea who it was because of the was it was edited. I had to wait until all of the characters were in the next scene standing around to figure out who was missing. The horrible editing exposes another huge issue, the writing. The script is full of plot holes. It even begins to contradict the previous films on the origins of It feels like Alice is just teleported from location to location for horribly edited action sequence after horribly edited action sequence. It provides n growth for the character of Alice and gives no reasons for the reverence she receives then, on top of all that there is a final reveal that renders Alice's entire journey through the previous films irrelevant.

Hopefully, this was the final film in this series and now it can get a proper reboot that is more in line with the games. This film contained no discernable plot, was edited horrendously, with a score that felt manipulative and unwarranted. I won't be surprised if this is in my Top 3 for worst films of the year come December.
