Mr. Holmes is a rather melancholic drama personifying the effects of mind deterioration. Told through three narratives: present and two past segments (one in Japan, the other is Holmes cracking a case). I like how all three of them linked and assisted in the character recalling his memories and of course detailing the information to us as the audience. It's a well made classy mature drama, no thrills to be had here...just pure character development with a hint of mystery. Graciously acted by Ian McKellen and a great young performer, Milo Parker. Laura Linney also delivers! As much as I love Hiroyuki Sanada, the narrative involving him wasn't necessary and I think the film would be better without it, therefore purely concentrating on remembering the "unsolved" case. But guys, definitely check this film out if you are into well made dramas.0 member like this review.
