  • Mr. Holmes is a rather melancholic drama personifying the effects of mind deterioration. Told through three narratives: present and two past segments (one in Japan, the other is Holmes cracking a case). I like how all three of them linked and assisted in the character recalling his memories and of course detailing the information to us as the audience. It's a well made classy mature drama, no thrills to be had here...just pure character development with a hint of mystery. Graciously acted by Ian McKellen and a great young performer, Milo Parker. Laura Linney also delivers! As much as I love Hiroyuki Sanada, the narrative involving him wasn't necessary and I think the film would be better without it, therefore purely concentrating on remembering the "unsolved" case. But guys, definitely check this film out if you are into well made dramas.
