  • Fast & Furious 8 is ridiculous fun. I might go as far to say that it is...Ludacris (please, someone stop me). Ok seriously, this is so damn illogical, so unbelievably unrealistic that it bordered on the absurd. Having said that, I did enjoy this film. Acting was serviceable but Statham, Johnson and Theron were the highlights. We finally have a memorable villain in the franchise. The script was pretty decent, cheesy but with the banter that the crew have it made it far more funny than it needed to be. Direction was fine, aside from the awful camerawork for the combat scenes...stop with the unnecessary shaky cam!? But my major problem, is that's it's formulaic. The producers are obviously scared to take a risk, and with all the money the franchise makes I don't blame them. Is this film thrilling though? Not at all, we've seen it all before. Not to mention the absurd number of returning characters for a 3 second cameo...it serves no purpose! But give me more Statham and The Rock...it's all I want in life. Eighth instalment, and the wheels are slowly starting to burn out.
