My Neighbour Totoro, I thought, was going to be a stupid kids film. Oh how wrong I was. Yes people, I have fallen in love with this film. I have to appreciate the message that it conveys, treat nature with kindness and it will treat you well. An environmental message is always important for children, throw in abit of fantasy and it's a job well done. Totoro is both cute and creepy, the animation is superb (1988!? Could've fooled me) and the musical score was fitting. The English dub I actually liked, the voices weren't annoying and worked well with the characters. Not to mention the rather unusual "cat bus"...(only in Japan I guess). My only gripe, is that I wanted more Totoro...and perhaps its abit too short. But for me, this is just below Spirited Away!0 member like this review.
